PGA Championship

PGA Golfers are teeing up for the last major tournament of the season with 8 of the top 16 ranked players in the world set to play.

The PGA Championship will see defending champion Retief Goosen try to make history by being the first golfer to win the tournament two years in a row. The tournament tees off on August 14 at the Medinah Country Club, Course No. 3 in Medinah, Illinois. Upcoming tournaments on the PGA circuit include the Deutsche Bank Championship at the end of the month and the Bell Canadian Open at the beginning of September.

Black Back on Tour

Frank Black is preparing for a continental tour with his new band this fall that will see him visit cities across the U.S. and Canada.

The tour will begin at the end of September with two nights supporting Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers before launching into six weeks of headlining dates across North America. Black will be playing music from his entire repertoire including songs from the Pixies and his solo career. Prior to the fall tour, Black has a run of acoustic solo shows planned as an opener for the Foo Fighters and a few headlining club dates.

Fame Becomes Him

Martin Short is proving a Broadway success yet again as his new show draws record crowds and celebrity guest appearances.

Fame Becomes Me showcases a variety of Short's most famous characters including the clueless television host, Jiminy Glick, who interviews an audience member in the show. This mystery interviewee has frequently been a famous face with appearances by Dennis Miller and David Schwimmer, among others. Short's Broadway success includes a Tony Award and an 8-month starring role in The Producers.

White Sox Fight to Repeat

The next few days will see the Chicago White Sox battling to repeat their 2005 success as they take on the New York Yankees.

The reigning World Series champions will play the Yankees for the next three nights in what could be a preview of the playoffs. After the Yankees series, the White Sox will face the Detroit Tigers who hold a commanding lead over them for in the AL Central Division. The Yankees currently stand neck-and-neck with the Boston Red Sox to take the AL East Division title.
