Curtains Casting

Complete casting has been announced for the upcoming musical comedy Curtains with a well-known television star in the lead.

David Hyde Pierce will star in the play as a detective trying to solve a murder mystery at a small town theatre company. Pierce is a seasoned stage actor having appeared in Spamalot among many others. Curtains is directed by Scott Ellis who has been at work this season in productions of Twelve Angry Men and The Little Dog Laughed. Curtains will open on March 22 at Broadway's Al Hirschfeld Theatre.

Dears on the Road

The Dears are hitting the road for a month long tour of the U.S. in support of their latest album, Gang of Losers.

The Montreal natives will launch the tour in Boston on January 16 and visit club venues across the country in cities including New York, Miami and Atlanta. The tour will wrap on January 27 in Nashville. The trek comes on the heels of another headlining U.S. tour for the band, which finished in December. The Dears have toured with high profile musicians in past years including Sloan and Morrissey.

NFL Postseason

The NFL Postseason has begun with the Wild Card Weekend taking place this Saturday and Sunday.

Teams competing this weekend include the Seattle Seahawks, Dallas Cowboys, Kansas City Chiefs and the Indianapolis Colts among others. Winners will move on to the Divisional Playoffs next weekend to face teams granted a first round bye. The Conference Championships will take place on the weekend of January 20 - 21 to decide which teams advance to Super Bowl XLI at Dolphin Stadium in Miami on February 4.

Broadway's 2007 Season

Old reunions and new collaborations are set to take the stages of Broadway this year with a lineup of comedies, musicals and dramas.

The creators of Les Miserables and Miss Saigon will reunite with their production of The Pirate Queen in April. Irish playwright Brian Friel and director Garry Hynes will join forces to revive Translations early in the year. The Coast of Utopia will continue its three part series with the third installment, Salvage, scheduled to premiere in March while the musical Legally Blonde will see its Broadway premiere in April.
