Mamma Mia! Anniversary

The smash hit musical Mamma Mia! celebrated its fifth anniversary this week on Broadway at the Winter Garden Theatre.

The anniversary party was held on October 18, which was officially proclaimed "Mamma Mia! Day!" in New York City. The ABBA inspired musical currently has ten productions running around the world and has been translated into six languages. Rejoining the Broadway production of the show is Tony Award winning actress Carolee Carmello who has also appeared in productions of Les Miserables and The King and I.

Lady Sovereign

British grime artist Lady Sovereign is preparing to kick off her North American debut next week in a 26-city continental tour.

The petite MC will get things started in Montreal on October 23 before releasing her debut album, Public Warning, at the end of the month. She will be supported on her tour by New York indie rockers Young Love. Recently signed by Jay-Z's record company Def Jam, Lady Sovereign has worked with many big artists in the music industry including the Beastie Boys and Basement Jaxx.

Chasing the Nextel Cup

NASCAR is picking up speed as the season winds down and the final races for the Nextel Cup approach.

With only five races left before the cup is awarded, competition at Martinsville Speedway for the Subway 500 this weekend on October 22 will be intense. Jeff Burton is currently leading the standings with Matt Kenseth and Kevin Harvick sitting close behind. The final race for the Nextel Cup, the Ford 400, will take place on November 19 at Homestead-Miami Speedway in Florida.

Company

The classic musical, Company, premieres at Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre today for limited three-week engagement.

The production stars Hugh Panaro who has recently featured in Phantom Of The Opera. Seattle's run of Company will also star Daniel C. Levine who has appeared in Chicago and Jesus Christ Superstar. Company, which is also playing on Broadway at the Barrymore Theatre, is about five married couples as seen through the eyes of their bachelor friend Robert who is weighing the pros and cons of wedded life.

Christina is Back to Basics

Christina Aguilera will visit cities across North America in early 2007 as a part of her recently announced Back to Basics tour.

The pop star will launch the massive tour on February 20 in Houston Texas after completing her European tour, which begins in mid-November. The Pussycat Dolls will open the show on all North American dates. Danity Kane will also provide support for all U.S. shows. The Back to Basics tour will visit 41 cities including Miami, Toronto, Vancouver and Los Angeles.
