MLB Playoffs

Competition in the MLB League Championship Series is gaining intensity as the World Series quickly approaches.

The famed World Series trophy will be awarded to one of the four teams currently battling for a place in baseball's biggest final. In the American League, the Oakland Athletics and the Detroit Tigers are going head-to-head for the League Championship. In the National League, the St. Louis Cardinals and the New York Mets are fighting for the final and a chance at the World Series.

Countdown to the Cup

With the Conference Finals just weeks away, CFL fans are counting down the days to this year's Grey Cup.

The 2006 Grey Cup is set for November 19 in Winnipeg and the competition to make the finals is fierce. After securing top spot in the West Division this week, the BC Lions will host the semi-final against Calgary Stampeders on November 12. In the East Division, the Toronto Argonauts and Montreal Alouettes will clash for the semi-final with the host team still to be determined.

Heartbreak House

A revival of Heartbreak House opened today on Broadway with stage veteran Philip Bosco in the starring role.

Bosco stars as Captain Shotover in the George Bernard Shaw classic that explores failed romance and unexpected relationships. Bosco last starred on Broadway in a production of Twelve Angry Men where he played Juror #3. He also had a recent appearance in the musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Heartbreak House will run at the American Airlines Theatre until December 3.

Metal Music

Fear Factory is about to embark on a massive headlining North American tour with support from some big names in hard rock.

The heavy metal band will launch their 36-date trek at the end of the month in San Francisco and will feature opening bands including Suffocation, Hypocrisy and Decapitated. The four bands will be on the road until early December. Also preparing for a headlining tour is metal band the Deftones who begin their itinerary on October 26, the same day as Fear Factory.
