Cheeky Chicks

The Dixie Chicks are gaining momentum from their latest tour and their film "Shut Up & Sing" hitting theatres last week.

The country trio kicked off the North American leg of their Accidents & Accusations Tour last Friday to coincide with the premiere of their controversial documentary "Shut Up & Sing". The tour is in support of the Chicks' latest album, Taking the Long Way, which features a guitar solo in the final track from John Mayer and songs co-written with artists including Sheryl Crow and Pete Yorn.

Breeders' Cup

The annual Breeders' Cup is set to run this weekend and this year's race is boasting one of the strongest fields in recent history.

World-renowned racehorses including Invasor, Lava Man and the favoured Bernardini will be vying for the title of Horse of the Year when they go neck-and-neck in the final race of the day, the Breeders' Cup Classic. Bernardini is the current Preakness Stakes and Travers Stakes Champion. The Breeders' Cup Championship will be held this Saturday at Churchill Downs in Kentucky.

Evil Dead Alive Onstage

The spookiness of Halloween will carry over into November with Evil Dead: The Musical opening tonight in New York.

The cult 80's horror films have been brought to life off-Broadway for an unlimited engagement at Dodger Stages. Previews for the show began on October 2. The production is directed and choreographed by Hinton Battle who has a long list of credits including stage performances in The Wiz and Miss Saigon. Battle has also worked as Jennifer Lopez's dance instructor.

Stones Postpone Shows

The Rolling Stones announced today that they have postponed and cancelled shows on their 'A Bigger Bang Tour' due to Mick Jagger's recent throat problems.

According to RollingStones.com, the Oakland show will move from November 5 to November 6. The Los Angeles show will move from November 18 to November 22. The Vancouver show will move from November 3 to November 25. The Honolulu show has been cancelled. All tickets will be valid for the rescheduled concert dates.

The Tour Championship

The PGA season is about to come to a close with the final tournament of the year taking place this week in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Tour Championship will see the top 30 performers from the PGA Tour battling in one of the highest prize money tournaments of the season. Players including Vijay Singh, Jim Furyk and Luke Donald will be among competitors at the event. The golf season will begin again early in the New Year with the Mercedes-Benz Championship taking place in Hawaii the first week of January.

Opening Night on Broadway

It has been a busy week in theatre with three major productions celebrating their opening nights on Broadway.

Nathan Lane's latest theatrical endeavour, Butley, opened last Wednesday for a limited engagement that will run through to the early New Year. The Bob Dylan inspired musical, The Times They Are A-Changin', had its official opening on Broadway last Thursday at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre. Tonight, the award-winning The Clean House will also enjoy its opening night at the Lincoln Center Theatre.
