110 in the Shade

The revival of 110 in the Shade begins previews today at Broadway's Studio 54 with an award-winning cast ready to perform.

Four-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald and two-time Tony winner John Cullum star in the musical about drought, love and loneliness. McDonald has appeared in a number of successful productions including Carousel and Ragtime. Cullum has performed in shows including The Man of La Mancha and Camelot. 110 in the Shade first premiered on Broadway in 1963 at the Broadhurst Theatre.

Live Earth

Live Earth in the U.S. and U.K. have announced their lineups with headliners including The Police and Madonna.

The North American show will be held at Giants Stadium in New Jersey and will feature performances by The Police, Roger Waters and the Dave Matthews Band, among many others. Madonna will headline the European concert in London's Wembley Stadium along with other major bands including the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Genesis. Live Earth will take place on July 7 with a concert being held on all seven continents.

NBA Playoff Race

The race is on to make the NBA Playoffs and there's tight competition for the remaining top spots.

With nearly all of the division leaders having been decided, the last places for teams to make the playoffs are going fast. Teams to have clinched their divisions already include the Toronto Raptors in the Atlantic, Utah Jazz in the Northwest, Phoenix Suns in the Pacific and Dallas Mavericks in the Southwest. This leaves the Southeast and Central Division titles yet be won before playoffs begin on April 21.

Blackbird

Manhattan will welcome a new show today when the Oliver Award-winning play Blackbird opens at City Center.

The drama stars famous film actor Jeff Daniels as a man trying to escape his past and Alison Pill as his ex-lover who confronts him on their relationship. The production is directed Joe Mantello who is known for his work on other shows including Wicked and The Odd Couple. Blackbird has been running previews at the theatre since March 15. Tonight's opening also marks the show's premiere in the U.S.

Bloc Party

Bloc Party has announced dates for their upcoming three-month long world tour.

The U.K. indie-rock group will start with the European leg of their tour before moving to North America in late May. In addition to solo shows, Bloc Party will also perform at various festivals including Oxegen in Ireland, Reading Festival in England and the Live Earth concert series alongside bands like the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Snow Patrol. The tour is in support of their latest album A Weekend in the City.
