Scissorhands on Stage

Fans of the film Edward Scissorhands will have a chance to experience the story live on stage as the musical production tours North America.

The original London company, who also toured the U.K. and Japan, will reunite for the North American tour that begins today in San Francisco. The tour will visit cities including New York, Toronto and Seattle with Tony Award winning choreographer Matthew Bourne's adaptation of the gothic fairytale. Bourne has directed and choreographed many productions including Mary Poppins, The Nutcracker and Swan Lake.

Stewart Sings the Classics

Fans can expect to see Rod Stewart perform his own hits as well as other rock classics when he goes on tour in the New Year.

Stewart will bring the classic repertoire on his 56-city North American tour set to launch on January 12 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The tour is in support of Stewart's latest album, Still the Same... Great Rock Classics of Our Time. Songs that are featured on the album include the Eagles' "The Best of My Love", The Pretenders' "I'll Stand by You" and Bonnie Tyler's "It's a Heartache", among many others.

NASCAR Nextel Cup Finale

With only two races left before the season ends, the Nextel Cup is within reach for the top few drivers left in the running.

This Sunday, drivers will go head-to-head in a bid to gain crucial points in the lead up to the Nextel Cup finale. This weekend's Checker Auto Parts 500 at the Phoenix International Raceway will see intense competition between standings leader Jimmie Johnson and second place driver Matt Kenseth. The Nextel Cup will be awarded on November 19 at the Ford 400 at the Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Broadway on Parade

Broadway's favourite characters will be marching through the streets of New York in this year's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

The famous floats of the parade will feature the cast from productions including The Color Purple and A Chorus Line. The Grinch himself will also be in attendance with the cast from How the Grinch Stole Christmas performing "Who Likes Christmas?" and "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch". The cast from Spamalot will also be on hand with their rendition of "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life".

Lionel Richie for Nobel Concert

Lionel Richie will be one of the featured performers at the annual Nobel Peace Prize Concert set to take place on December 11 in Oslo, Norway.

Richie is one of the musicians that have been confirmed to play at the concert along with Wynonna Judd, John Legend, Yusuf Islam (formerly Cat Stevens) and Rihanna. The concert is in honour of the Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus, a Bangladeshi banker and economist. Actresses Sharon Stone and Angelica Huston will host the event.

CFL Division Finals

The CFL is heating up with the Division Finals to be held this weekend and the Grey Cup set for November 19.

The Western Division Final will see the BC Lions take on the Saskatchewan Roughriders at BC Place in Vancouver on November 12. The Eastern Division Final will be a battle between the Montreal Alouettes and the Toronto Argonauts at Montreal's Olympic Stadium also to be held this Sunday. Winning teams from the Division Finals will go on to the Grey Cup Championship in Winnipeg on November 19.

Manuel Joins Fidelity

Caren Lyn Manuel has joined the cast of Broadway's upcoming musical comedy High Fidelity.

Manuel will fill the role of Sarah, one of the ex-girlfriends of protagonist Rob. Manuel has a long list of credits including Rent, Les Miserables and most recently The Times They Are A-Changin'. High Fidelity is based on the film of the same name, which follows a hopeless romantic who knows everything about pop music and nothing about how to keep a relationship. The production opens for previews on November 20.
