Kylie Returns

Kylie Minogue is back on her Showgirl Tour and she has plenty of friends supporting her return to the stage.

The Australian singer re-launched her Showgirl Tour earlier this month after postponing the original dates last year due to illness. The tour kicked off in Sydney with U2's Bono joining her onstage for the second show performing "Kids", a song she originally recorded with Robbie Williams. Minogue will tour Australia throughout December before moving the tour to the UK in the New Year.

Thanksgiving Weekend Football

It's time for turkey and football in the U.S. as the NFL continues Thanksgiving weekend with games scheduled for Sunday.

After three Thanksgiving Day Classic games yesterday, NFL fans are ready for more with twelve match ups on the agenda for this Sunday. Among competing teams are the New England Patriots who will host the Chicago Bears and the Indianapolis Colts who will take on the Philadelphia Eagles. Winning teams from yesterday's games were the Miami Dolphins, the Dallas Cowboys and Kansas City Chiefs.

Cirque Winter Spectacular

Cirque du Soleil has announced that it will perform a recurring annual winter show at New York's Madison Square Garden.

The winter spectacular will premiere in late 2007 and will run 10 weeks a year through to at least 2010. The family oriented show will be the first semi-permanent Cirque du Soleil presentation in New York. The troupe currently boasts one permanent show in Orlando, La Nouba, and five permanent shows in Las Vegas including O, Zumanity, LOVE and KA.

Clapton Announces Tour

Eric Clapton has just announced he will return to North America in the early New Year for a tour of the West.

The guitar legend will kick off the new tour in February fresh after his current tour, which is travelling in Japan and Australia. The tour will visit the Midwest, Southwest and West Coast covering 11 U.S. states and three Western Canadian cities. As with Clapton's 2006 tour, The Robert Cray Band will be the show opener and there is speculation that Derek Trucks will also return supporting Clapton on guitar.

The Ashes Cricket Series

It's time again for one of the biggest rivalries in cricket to battle as The Ashes Cricket Series prepares to begin play this week.

The long-standing contest between Australia and England will begin The Ashes this year on Thursday, November 23 with day one of the first test match in host country Australia. The roughly biennial event will conclude on January 5 with the fifth test being played at Sydney Cricket Ground. Cricket fans have more to anticipate as the 2007 Cricket World Cup kicks off in early March in the West Indies.

Mary Poppins Opening

Everyone's favourite nanny flew onto Broadway last week for the opening performance of Mary Poppins.

The musical, which is a hit in London, celebrated its grand opening at the New Amsterdam Theatre after running previews there since mid-October. Ashley Brown, who first appeared on Broadway as Belle in Beauty and The Beast, stars in the title role. Mary Poppins is co-directed and choreographed by Matthew Bourne who also worked on the production for the current national tour of Edward Scissorhands.
