Broadway Idol

Another of American Idol's past contestants will take to the stage this month with a starring role on Broadway.

Season one runner-up Tamyra Gray will join the cast of Rent in the role of Mimi Marquez from May 29 to November 25. It isn't the first time Gray has graced the stages after appearing in the Bollywood-themed musical Bombay Dreams in 2004. She will be joining a long list of Idol contestants to make the jump to theatre. Season three American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino is currently starring as Celie in The Color Purple.

True Colors

The True Colors Tour will set out this summer with a lineup full of musicians, comedians and other special guests.

Cyndi Lauper, founder of the True Colors Tour, will headline the show as it visits 15 cities across the country from June 8 to June 30. Other performers scheduled to take part in all or some of the shows include Margaret Cho, Erasure and Rufus Wainwright. The True Colors Tour is a musical festival in support of the gay and lesbian community with a portion of every ticket sale being donated to human rights charities.

Kentucky Derby

The most exciting two minutes in sports is scheduled for this weekend when the Kentucky Derby sets off.

The 133rd annual Kentucky Derby will be run on Saturday, May 5 with supplemental races beginning tomorrow at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky. One of the most anticipated opening races is the Kentucky Oaks, which will take place on Friday, May 4. As the first race in the famed Triple Crown series, the Kentucky Derby will be followed by the Preakness Stakes and Belmont Stakes in the coming weeks.

Blonde Celebration

Legally Blonde has plenty to celebrate after officially opening on the weekend and preparing to record its cast album.

The musical, based on the film of the same name, has been running previews at the Palace Theatre in New York since early April. Laura Bell Bundy, who stars as Elle Woods in the production, will lead the cast into the studio in the next few weeks to record the show's album. The album is due for release early this summer. Bundy has appeared in previous Broadway productions including Hairspray and Wicked.

The Nightwatchman

Tom Morello is on tour in a series of acoustic shows under his alter-ego The Nightwatchman.

Morello, who achieved fame in the bands Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave, will be touring as The Nightwatchman in support of his recently released debut album, One Man Revolution. Many of the shows Morello has scheduled will be as opening spots for Ben Harper on his summer tour. The Nightwatchman will also perform at the Bonnaroo Music Festival in Manchester, Tennessee on June 16.
