Aerosmith and Independence

Aerosmith will be playing a special concert on July 4 prior to kicking off their Route of All Evil Tour later in the month.

Aerosmith band members, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, will play an aired-to-television Independence Day gig with the Boston Pops Orchestra. The concert comes as Aerosmith is preparing for their Route of All Evil Tour with Motley Crue, which will see the classic bands travel to amphitheatres across North America this fall. Aerosmith is also busy recording a new album scheduled for release in early 2007.

World Cup Quarter-Finals

The FIFA World Cup is heating up as the 32 teams who entered have been whittled down to 8 with the Quarter-Finals set to begin tomorrow.

The next few days will see intense action with the following countries battling to remain in the running for the World Cup: Germany vs. Argentina, Italy vs. Ukraine, England vs. Portugal and Brazil vs. France. The World Cup Final will be played on July 9 and be followed by the closing ceremonies featuring performances by Il Divo and Toni Braxton.

AFI Tour

Punk rock band AFI is hitting the road with a full schedule of tour dates at home and abroad.

The four-piece group will begin with a two-month trek across North America and finish with international concerts in Japan and the UK. While on the East Coast of the US, the band made an appearance at the Raleigh, North Carolina stop on the Vans Warped Tour alongside bands such as Buzzcocks and Saves the Day. AFI is touring in support of their latest album decemberunderground, released on June 6.

The History Boys Continue

The production that swept the 2006 Tony Awards has just announced it is to extend its Broadway run.

The History Boys will extend its hugely successful run at the Broadhurst Theatre to close on Oct. 1 rather than the originally scheduled closing date of Sept. 3. The production can't run longer than Oct. 1 as the theatre is already booked for the revival of Les Miserables. The History Boys received the most nods the 2006 Tony Awards, beating out productions including The Drowsy Chaperone and Jersey Boys.

Canadian Champ Car

The Champ Car World Series, formerly known as CART Racing, is at full speed and Canadians are preparing for their turn to host the track.

The Toronto Grand Prix, formerly the Molson Indy Toronto, is getting its engines revving with the three day event beginning on July 7. With its first race in 1986, the Toronto Grand Prix track circles the CNE grounds in the heart of the city. The racing moves west a after the Toronto event, with the West Edmonton Mall Grand Prix kicking off on July 21.
